Latest upgrade and strange spacing - can fix?

Since the latest upgrade, the normal spacing between lines of text has gone.
Instead of the usual spacing, as in Word, where one line follows another underneath, now there is a double space.
If press delete and go back - then the line below appears normally - below.

Its very confusing and annoying and I'd like to get back just plain old normal spacing between lines of text - as in Word or any other word processor.

Anyone know how to fix this?

Menu path Tools->Options->Composition->General->uncheck "When using paragraph format, the enter key creates a new paragraph."

Yeah... this worked for me too.

During the #44, #45 and #46 T-Bird updates my compositioning of my emails became very different.
Unable to determine how to fix it, I just had to fix each email I sent.
Finally, I discovered this forum and the answers to the same questions that confronted me, esp after the most recent 3 upgrades, I found answers here.

These recent 3 updgrades have been disturbing to what otherwise has been a very satisfactory and peaceful existence using T-Bird.

Not all change is good.
