I recently changed a gmail password then had a very hard time finding a way to change it in Thunderbird. I found nothing useful in Thunderbird Help.
Eventually I found a useful video using google, but the procedure was cumbersome and scary. Thunderbird Help needs an easily-found step-by-step explanation complete with assurances at the delete-password stage.
For security reasons, password changes should be far easier.
