Thunderbird 52.0 [not yet] available

Version 52.0, first offered to Release channel users on April 4, 2017
https://download.mozilla.org/?product=t ... lang=en-US

I've no idea when autoupdate will have 52.0, you can manually download and install 52.0 for now.

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/all/

Download page still only points to 45.8.0.

This post may be relevant in some alternative universe, but certainly isn't relevant in the universe in which most users live:
1. Mozilla isn't managing, nor developing Thunderbird and hasn't been for several years. It's being managed by volunteers. And Seamonkey has been independent for roughly a decade.
2. Release related links on various pages aren't always necessarily in sync. They get updated when release management wants them to be updated - it's not manged based on your or other users' expectations.
3. Just because a release is announced doesn't mean it is being offered to all users.
4. Release status, and therefore the links where downloads are offered, can change over time. Especially early in a release cycle, the release may be withdrawn while user feedback is evaluated and adjustments are made - all in the best interest of users. Firefox often does the same thing - but it's usually for shorter periods so it goes unnoticed.

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ also offers only 45.8.0. You might take that as a hint that 52.0 in this moment currently isn't being offered to the public. Ditto for being able to download 52.0 via updates https://groups.google.com/d/msg/mozilla ... XzyhNtBgAJ

This is all well and good, but doesn't Mozillazine usually post release information in the "Thunderbird Builds" area? I posted a link there, which someone locked and sent here. Why the change?

Longer term, what should enterprise users be using for email? We have many Thunderbird clients installed, but if this is not supported or kept up in any orderly fashion, how can we support the product or its use? Should we just go to Outlook?

If you are an enterprise user:
1. You should be on the tb-enterprise mailing list, and wait for an email that says we consider it ready for enterprise use. (and a good place to ask questions)
2. You should know about https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird/Enterprise (there is a similar page for Firefox)
3. You should be acquianted with methods of controlling how your many users get updates
4. (no knock on mozillazine) ask enterprise questions in formal Thunderbird fora, where you are more likely to get a formal response - https://wiki.mozilla.org/Thunderbird#Ge ... nformation

That's a starting point

The Thunderbird Builds forum is for pre-release/developer builds only, though progress on upcoming releases is discussed here as well. Thunderbird General can be used for posting releases once they are officially available.

There is no difference between "retail" and "enterprise" builds for Thunderbird, in contrast to Firefox. In fact, all release builds for Thunderbird are using the same core code as the corresponding Firefox ESR builds (hence the release numbering in steps of seven major versions).
