download NEW e-mails

Post by danll »

I had to install a POP account on Thunderbird (52.5.2) on a new machine that I've been using successfully on many machines. There happen to be about 10,000 e-mails in that account. But when I Get Messages on that account, it tries to download ALL of them. Eeeek! Um, really, I just want to download the new ones. How can I tell Thunderbird to do that? As in, just download the e-mails in that account starting, like yesterday? This could take a few hours otherwise.

You can't choose messages by date or the like when working with a POP type account. That is not something supported by that email protocol.

To speed up the process on this new machine, see this article to have TB download only header information until you tell it to gather the rest of the data for a given message -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Download_only ... P_messages

Hmm. Thanks. I guess I just have to go to my server and archive a whole bunch.
