Evidence in metadata that my inbox was full

Dear all,

Someone purportedly sent me an e-mail. I never received it. I suspect that my inbox was full at the time. If I ask them for the metadata of the sent e-mail, will it show that the e-mail never reached my inbox?

My understanding is that, if an inbox is full, the e-mail never reaches it. This should be mirrored in the sent e-mail's metadata.

Any advice would be welcomed.

Many thanks!

No, it would not be indicated in the metadata of sent message. That metadata would be recorded when the message was handed off to your email provider's SMTP server. Instead there would have been a message returned to the sender indicating that the message could not be delivered due to the addressee's mailbox being full.

Dear Dan (or anyone else),

Conversely, is there any way I can prove that I did not receive that specific e-mail? Is there any place to find a list of e-mails which did actually enter my inbox?

Many thanks.
