Thunderbird is looking to hire a Full Time Remote Add-On Support Engineer! Also, this new position will be responsible for helping to integrate the best parts of popular add-ons directly into the TB core. This is the best news I've heard in a long time...

https://www.thunderbird.net/en-US/careers/ (Scroll down until you see 'ADD-ON SUPPORT ENGINEER')

ADD-ON SUPPORT ENGINEER

Full Time / Remote

The Thunderbird add-ons system is transitioning to WebExtension compatible technology. To ease the process for add-on authors to convert their code over to the new way of doing things, as well as making sure needed APIs are available, the Thunderbird team is looking for someone to help add-on authors make the jump for the next version (Thunderbird 78).

At Thunderbird, you’ll be working with existing staff and community members from all over the globe. We work very much in the open, and you’ll be able to show your skills to the world.

This is a remote, full time position. You are expected to have excellent written communication skills and coordinate your work over email, video conferencing, IRC, and Bugzilla.

You could end up working on:
Improving and keeping the add-ons documentation up to date. :)
Creating sample extensions utilizing the new APIs.
Help out with add-on reviews.
Engage with add-on developers to answer their questions. :)
Helping to integrate the best parts of popular add-ons directly into core. =D>
Helping the Thunderbird team understand the needs of add-on authors. :D

We’re looking for someone with:
Great written communication skills.
Experience of WebExtensions and preferably also of traditional Thunderbird/Firefox add-ons.
Proven experience developing with JavaScript/HTML/CSS.
Understanding of the Mozilla internal technologies (such as XPCOM).

Well, it's been more than 30 days and Thunderbird is still advertising to hire a Full Time Remote Add-On Support Engineer. I guess there are no takers. Maybe no benefits and not enough $$$. What else could be the problem? Add-ons admittance for approval are slower than slow...

I see there are still no takers for the Add-on Support Engineer job. That's a shame...

I prefer to ask what you basing you your statement on - since ultimately that is what we are not in agreement on.

Fair enough. The position (singular, not multiple) for a Remote Add-on Support Engineer is still open according to the website link. It doesn't appear the position has ever been filled, otherwise the position would have (or should have) been removed.

What can you tell us about the advertised position?

It should have been removed. Expect an announcement in the coming weeks.

Why did you make getting an answer so difficult? That's beyond strange! I still don't understand why you pushbacked so hard on answering a very simple straightforward easy to understand question. Was that really necessary?

Very simply, you had stated a position without citing a source or rationale for that position. Please reread my initial statement with emphasis on the second phrase 'I prefer to ask what you basing you your statement on - since ultimately that is what we are not in agreement on." In other words, it's hard to comment on something which I haven't read.

You're doing yourself and the Thunderbird Council no favours here, chum. No one likes people (or AI robots) being deliberately obtuse.

Try following the link given in the Opening Post.

It's bloody obvious what he was 'basing you your statement on'....duh, the existence of a still displayed job advert.
