Transferring emails to new system

Post by cma6 »

My old computer with Tbird died but I have backups. What Tbird files from old system can I use to transfer emails to new system with Tbird installed; and which files to copy to where on the new system?
Thanks in advance to the experts.

Dan,
This is really excellent. The problem I've run into is that in my backup of the dead system, I could not find C:\Users\etc where the Bird profile should be stored. Is there any other folder on the old system where Tbird profile might have been stored?

That's the default location but perhaps you (or someone) used a custom location for the profile during installation. Did you make sure that Windows is set to "display hidden files and folders"? The KnowledgeBase article says "The AppData folder is folder is a hidden folder; to show hidden folders, open a Windows Explorer window and choose "Organize → Folder and Search Options → Folder Options → View (tab) → Show hidden files and folders"."
