Is there a way to link the Contacts that comes with Windows Vista with Thunderbird? I use an iPhone and it will only sync with Outlook, Outlook Express, and Vista Contacts. I saw in the Yahoo thread how to link Outlook and Outlook Express, but not Vista Contacts.

There might be an extension that can do what you seek. This page is a good place to start regarding extensions for Thunderbird.

Here's a process that works great. It allows you to sync all of these: Thunderbird contacts ---> iPhone Contacts -----> Windows Address Book Contacts (Outlook Express) ----> Outlook 2003 contacts.

You can also create contacts backups (using the various software) using the following extensions:

.pst (Outlook 2003)
.wab (Outlook Express, Windows Address Book)
.pcv (MozBackup)
.ldif (Lightweight Directory Interchange Format)

First, set up a free Funambol account here:

Then, get the Funambol add-on for Thunderbird here:

Use the T-Bird add-on to sync to your Funambol account.

Then go to iTunes and download the iphone app for Funambol here: ... 57844&mt=8

Install the app on your iPhone. Now use the iPhone app to sync your Funambol account with your iPhone's contact list.

Finally, set up iTunes to sync your iPhone with Windows Address Book when you sync your iPhone with iTunes.

Now your info goes from Thunderbird, to Funambol, to iPhone, to Outlook Express. You can use the .wab file exported from Windows Express to import to Outlook.

Interesting. I'll add that to the knowledge base

The funambol addon is listed as experimental, so you can't download it unless you register with the Mozilla addons web site. See for another location. ... based_PDAs mentions several other addons that might be suitable such as the Tysync extension. Ignore the poor choice of title for the article, it also covers phones.
