OT: Importing from "The Bat!"?

Post by sidesh0w »

Sorry for the (slightly?) off-topic post, but can anyone tell me how to export messages from The Bat! and into Thunderbird?

(If you don't want to clutter up the forums, I can be reached at via e-mail. Thanks so much for any help you can give me...)

I think the only way is The Bat! > Outlook Express > Minotaur, thats how I did it after everything else failed. ;)

1) Export your The Bat mails in .EML format
2) Open OE and Windows Explorer, navigate to the folder with the exported .EML's
3) Drag the .EML files from Explorer into your OE inbox/sentbox etc.
4) Open Minotaur and import your OE mails via Tools > Import

tve, you rock--thanks so much for your help. i'll definitely try the OE route...but there's no way to maintain the hierarchy of The Bat's folders, huh?

thanks again.

Is Tbird really good enough already that you are switching from the best mail program around?

Man...I may have to try this out.

And just wondering how the TB! -> Outlook -> TBird process went?

Actually, I ended up *not* switching. ;) I wanted to check out the Bayesian junk mail controls, but the mail import process ended up being a real pain. That, and The Bat really is the best mail client around.

If only it had real IMAP support...

Sounds like a pretty important feature to miss for the best mail client around

Best POP mail client around I guess. I have no use for IMAP so it doesn't bother me. I also have no use for an HTML editor, but it seems they are spending loads of dev time putting that in instead of adding a wrap option to the normal editor.

It's not perfect, but it is clearly the best thing I've found and I've tried every major mail client except Minotaur. However, I'm not sure I like the direction they are going so have been looking for an alternative.
