On the Firefox side, 51.0 was the last version supporting Windows XP and Vista. However, the 52.0 ESR branch still supports those for the duration of that branch (bug 1315083) which also Thunderbird releases come from.

Betas should no longer support Windows XP or Vista, potentially starting with the 52.0 betas already, definitely with the 53.0 beta.

I can't tell if this was answered or not.
Note that Thunderbird 52 is the last release to support Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, Windows Server 2003 R2, Windows 2008 and Windows Vista.
Thunderbird — 52.0 System Requirements — Mozilla
Many thanks, this was the simple answer needed. Thanks to everyone else.

Yesterday was Merge Day!

Trunk is now on 56.0 - keep in mind that it merged directly into beta, which is now on 55.0; aurora is retired.

Note that comm-aurora yet has to be merged into comm-beta (I'd expect this to happen later today).

Also, there will be no version bump on trunk as the next merge will directly go into beta:

Looking at this, it seems we should be on version 53 or 54, based on the dates. I went to Help|About Thunderbird, and it gives me "52.1.1 (32-bit)".

Am I having a download/update problem, or is the schedule off?

Can you help us test releases? Then we would be less "off".

As has been stated many times, Firefox follows a strict schedule. Thunderbird does the best that we can with our challenges and the resources at our disposal. I.e. there's not much point to asking - when is it coming out?

I have a test email at home, but I think that is ahead of releases; it may even be Nightly. The point of asking is that reality is not meshing up with the schedule. I believe you answered my question without answering it. You're saying the schedule slipped, right? If the schedule can not be kept, then it should be changed (ie:rescheduled), so people don't need to ask this question or be left wondering if there is something wrong with their computer or Thunderbird setup.

Honestly, I have more important things to do than update a schedule that is inherently unpredictable. It's entirely pointless to update it. Would you prefer it be removed all together? Then we still get questions of, when is it coming out.

It's time to relax and wait. Or help with tests, and blocking bugs, and release process and join in the stress and satisfaction of knowing you have contributed.

And note, even with Firefox a release "date" is subject to change " Code is not always released to users on the same day as the branch migration. The release to users may be a few days later, to allow for manual testing and sign-off." https://wiki.mozilla.org/RapidRelease/Calendar

This is the reality. There is no crystal ball. When things are delayed there are no estimates. Dates <> reality.
