Can anyone explane me the new archive function? Either I don't understand this new archive feature or it doesn't really work for me. I click in the message header pane of a mail on "archive" and than I get an empty folder (under my trash) named "Archive". But there is no mail inside, the mail is still in the inbox. If I click two times on the archive button and than delete the empty folder, than I get a subfolder "Archive" of my trash with this mail inside I want to archive (and than its no more in the Inbox). I used it for the first time.
I also mentioned this in the tracking bug.

Is it just me or can anyone else not read their emails. When I open an email the body of the email is blank. I cannot use preview pane either(blank). I've disabled all extensions and started in safe mode. Nothing.

tuckers89gw, did you try rebuilding the index? Right-click on the folder and select Properties from the context menu, then hit the button in the lower-right corner. If it happens with all folders and rebuilding doesn't help, it must be something else.

Any information on when those will work again for the 3.0 nightlies, and possibly the new 3.1 nightlies (comm-central with mozilla-central) on top of that?

yeah, that didn't work. I did notice that when I receive a new email Thunderbird plays a sound like normal, but the email doesn't show up. Also the character encoding somehow got changed to arabic. I've rebuilt the index, but now I have no emails showing up my inbox folder.

OK, thanks.

But I found anything else. Can anyone confirm this: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=473781 :?:
I've tested this a few times with different builds.

Eh, weird... :? The encoding can be set by the global preferences, but there is also a folder-specific setting in the Folder Properties. In the worst case, I'd try removing the corresponding ".msf" file to get rid of any residual effects (or better, just move it away and keep it, in case this ends up becoming a bug report, then you would have a test case right away).

Well, I uninstalled Shredder and restarted my computer. I installed yesterday's build, as it was on my desktop, and all old emails in my inbox are gone, but I am able to receive and view new emails and view emails in other folders. even sub folders of the inbox I can view now. Unfortunately I've lost all emails in my main inbox folder. Anyone have any idea how to get them back?

I assume after the actual branching takes place (after b2)
Right now it looks like a single changeset is applied to both trees (???)
At least you get the same info whichever tinderbox you select.

Thanks, didn't try a "3.1" build yet, the updates for 3.0b2pre work fine.

Unfortunately you may not be able to get the emails back. you're experiencing this bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=472446

See, particularly, Comment #2. That describes what just happened to you.

The switch to Arabic is a telltale sign of the same behaviour that is happening in bug 472446. As long as the folder has not been compacted, you can recover the emails.

Look through the email mbox file. You will see a header on each message like "X-Mozilla-Status: 0009" The 0009 means that the message has been deleted. If you change the 0009 to 0001, then the messages should reappear when you reindex the folder. (It's actually the bit at position 0008 that matters, so if you have something other than 0009 you might need to change it to something other than 0001)

The root cause is that the retention settings get messed up, which is on the folder properties screen. You should check to make sure that they make sense.
