Well, you should disable it. MinGW can't build the accessibility stuff.

@gemal

Installing to drive D:\

I've following your instructions and now there is an error, when doing step 7:

cd d:\mozilla\moztools\include\
d:\mozilla\cygwin\bin\dos2unix.exe *.h
cd libIDL\
d:\mozilla\cygwin\bin\dos2unix.exe *.h

The error-message: cygpopt-0.dll is missing

And yes, I can't find this DLL in the created mozilla\cygwin\ directory.

???

Thanks, that worked. (Well, after I realised you'd spelt accessibility wrong it did anyway :))

Yeh, I meant to say that you should have disabled it

Redownlad the cygwin setup.exe program, or just run it if you haven't deleted it yet. Under the Category "Libs", find libpopt0 and install it, or reinstall it if it says that its already been installed.

Problem:

"checking for gcc... gcc"
"checking whether the C compiler (gcc) works... no"

What is the problem?

Has anyone ever built a working version of TB with these instructions?
I know I didn't. It just crashes at startup.

I've made a working version of TB, using MingW. Not using gemal's specific instructions though. Though the only thing I've done different from his instructions is the place the different things in other folders. I also acquired the source a different way, but that should be irrelevant.

I just tried building it and i think it kinda worked but i do have a question.
The howto says:

cd c:\mozilla\mozilla\thunderbird\bin\
thunderbird.exe

But i dont have that directory. I do have the following:

c:\mozilla\mozilla\dist\bin\thunderbird.exe
c:\mozilla\mozilla\dist\bin\thunderbird\thunderbird.exe
c:\mozilla\mozilla\mail\app\thunderbird.exe

The first 2 run with some errors and a dos box that keep open and the last one doenst run at all.
Am i doing someting wrong? or is one of them the correct version? Also the directory's containing the thunderbird.exe are a few 100's of mb's.
