Oo! In that case can we run a competition for the community to come up with a codename for 1.1?

How about "Mornington Crescent"? :)

Linux Thunderbird 1.1a mailto: not working

Post by Äkiidoll »

Linux Thunderbird 1.1a mailto: not working properly. Clicking a
mailto: hyperlink in Firefox 1.0.4 launches the entire Thunderbird
program, instead of opening a Compose window with the subject
line "auto filled" like it is suposed to. I have to manually open
a Compose window Scott & Dave.

Thunderbird 1.0.2 works flawlessly in the above test.

My Thunderbird user.js file

Code: Select all

/* Do not remove the @namespace line--it's required for correct functioning */
/* Set default namespace to XUL */
@namespace url("http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/there.is.only.xul");

/* Open hyperlinks in Mozilla Firefox */
user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.http", "/home/amber/Apps/Firefox/firefox/firefox");

user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.https", "/home/amber/Apps/Firefox/firefox/firefox");

user_pref("network.protocol-handler.app.ftp", "/home/amber/Apps/Firefox/firefox/firefox");

Hey, just found out that if anyone is like me and use thunderbird to check there webmail accounts (hotmail, yahoo etc..) the webmail plugin is broken and doesnt install in the latest build until they update it. I just took a look around for other apps that do work in thunderbird for download hotmail/msn messages. The only one that i found that works flawlessly (including the recent changes to the way hotmail works) is freepops. --http://freepops.com. Thought that may be usefull to some of ya!

Any news of a proper reply/forward header built into the main program? It's awkward having to fiddle about with extensions for this.
Apparently I'm not allowed coloured text in my signature. This is 2012 and not 2001 you know!

I know this is a bit of an MS thing but corporates often need this for auditing etc. At least put an option in the cofig to turn this on or off... There are extentions to do this but it would be good to be included in the core.

thanks

A customisable set of "reply" and "forward" header texts embedded in the message might be a nice-to-have, yes. (Note this shouldn't affect anything but readability -- it's the actual message headers that aren't directly visible that are used for threading. These appear to be okay, IIRC.)

I'm almost inclined to say an extension is exactly where this should live... But it should be trivial (and limited in bloat potential) to add to T/b itself... Although, I can already think of "extended features": include all headers, include selected known headers, include selected custom headers, exclude all headers, exclude selected known headers (but include all others), exclude selected custom headers (but include all others)... And a panel/popup for the custom headers. So it's a fair-sized UI.

Scott & Dave - overall a fine new build! The most obvious
issues I found are in my previous posts. Im going back
to my stable 1.0.2 and will test again on 1.1b when you
post another thread for testing that build. All my tests
were using the Linux build since no .zip versions were
made available for Win32.

Keep up the great work guys/girls - You have made
great strides since I first started using Thunderbird 0.3.

I love my Thunderbird! :biggrin:

the RSS part is quite a mess (linux version)
1, can't delete any article
2, "run filters on folder" doesn't do anything when it should

Try the advanced config editor in Thunderbird via Tools>Options>Advanced>Config Editor. Search the preferences for the term 'reply', without quotes. There are also various reply header "types", but I don't know which numbers do what offhand (try searching this forum).

See http://www.mozilla.org/support/thunderb ... eplyheader for a brief explanation of the reply preferences that can be set using the advanced config editor (I'm fairly certain you no longer need to edit user.js by hand).

Dialog size seems to be NOT variable

Post by AlexIhrig »

Hi Scott,

there is one of the new dialogs, which is NOT resizable - when translating the dialog, it is to small:

Menu Tools > Account Settings... > Server Settings (POP account) > Button Advanced...

Search by Recipient

Still missing the possibility to search mail by Recipient: Recipient is as important for Sent folder as search by Sender for Inbox!

Well, it's just a question of wording. Instead of recipient, try "To". You can't search by sender either: you can use "From", though. ;-)

Does anyone else have the problem in this version of not being able to change the font when composing an email? (On Windows 2000)

Thanks,
Steve
