Themes and Daily don't work

Post by WaltS48 »

Themes don't preview or install using the latest Daily on Linux.

Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:35.0) Gecko/20100101 Thunderbird/35.0a1 BuildID: 20140921030204

Has anyone else noticed?
Linux Desktop - AMD Athlon(tm) II X3 455 3.3GHz | 8.0GB RAM | GeForce GT 630
Windows Notebook - AMD A8 7410 2.2GHz | 6.0GB RAM | AMD Radeon R5

It is a new profile, but I created a Test profile and have the same results.

No preview when I hover over a theme and none will install.

Edit: I suspect it has something to do with the change in Firefox Nightly where you can now preview and install Themes from the Customize widget.

I did some more investigating today.

Thunderbird 33.0b1 doesn't preview Themes, but you can add them.
Build ID 20140919012453
changeset - 216796:73fcc8d4510c

Earlybird doesn't preview or allow you to add them.
Build ID 20140903004005
changeset - 217280:fb5e796da813

Also broken in Daily from the first release.
Build ID - 20140902105544
changeset - 202957:bfeddb24df7e
Linux Desktop - AMD Athlon(tm) II X3 455 3.3GHz | 8.0GB RAM | GeForce GT 630
Windows Notebook - AMD A8 7410 2.2GHz | 6.0GB RAM | AMD Radeon R5

Seeing the same problem with SeaMonkey. Can someone help bisect? http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/ ... d/nightly/
The Error Console shows the following in Daily - Same as SeaMonkey

I guess nobody is using themes. :?: :?: :?:

Thanks for checking the Error Console Phil. I should have thought to do that.

Speculation:
Bug 506446 (Firefox::Preferences) : Clear site preferences (recent or on shutdown) removes default allowed sites
Bug 1050080 (Firefox::Preferences) : Re-whitelist domains for users of PermissionsUtils.importFromPrefs
TL:DR; addon site whitelists now kept in a different file which doesn't exist in Thunderbird nor in SeaMonkey.

I manually created the file but still have the same problem so it looks like I was wrong about the cause.
