To further clarify rsx11m's comments...
Web bloggers and news purveyors don't seem to care to vett information by checking at the top of the food chain, and providing completely accurate information. Their interest is pushing "news" (whatever that is these days) and the ranking of their service in the eyes of their users and income providers.
Distros provide releases THEY choose, when THEY want, idependently. So what one of them provides is not necessarily what all the others are doing, nor is it always what "Thunderbird" is providing - each has different needs. But the top ~8 distros are on a "thunderbird release management" mailing list, so they get to see all the information being provided by Thunderbird release management in real time.
> i dont follow any of the Mozilla TB or Firefox Google Groups
No one needs to. Just double check https://www.mozilla.org/thunderbird - but NOT ftp, nor release candidate websites, nor some blogger or poster on some website. And it helps to provide more explicit information when posting - so if a distro provides a new thunderbird release then say "this distro is providing X", not a general and inaccurate statement of "Thunderbird X is released".

So, bottom line for -Arch-: Please stop posting premature release announcements, once and for all. Ok?

Well Joe does link to the candidate builds in the first post, and that needs updated to 45.0b1, so -Arch- was basically updating the thread.

WLS, don't encourage him - we've pointed out multiple times that what's happening on the FTP site is in preparation of the releases, which only become "official" once they are announced and the pointers on the mozilla.org website have been switched - and nothing else. I realize that this is the TB Builds forum, but nevertheless a clear classification of any links pointing to builds as just being a link to those without any "being out" or "released" is mandatory. People may run into these threads just be Googling (and maybe even a blog or two picking it up from here, which we certainly don't want!).

well i think rsx could easily update it to 45b1 instead of waiting for JoeS to do it. since he's a Mod an can do that , having said that, all rsx has to do is EDIT my post(s) if the info is wrong. an correct it. there's plenty of people in this world that look at FTP sitesWLS wrote:Well Joe does link to the candidate builds in the first post, and that needs updated to 45.0b1, so -Arch- was basically updating the thread.
people dont just Grab TB or Firefox from the main links, they'll Grab it from sites like www.betanews.com etc

I've updated the opening post as requested, but it general it's JoeS's thread and hence his choice what to do with it and how to manage it.

FYI: The repositories for the upcoming new ESR 45.0 branches have been established:mozilla-beta has already been merged into mozilla-release and mozilla-esr45 yesterday, the comm-* merges are still pending (the "big" merges are scheduled for next Monday).
