skipping message on active msg pane and acct central

Hello: w7pro, earlybird daily update (now 47a2). In acct central, I will hilite a msg for it to appear in msg pane (all 3 panes - acct central, msg, folder- active, always). Most (but not all) times I can begin reading the msg (in msg pane) and suddenly the highlighted msg in acct central will "skip"- and now I'm reading a msg I didn't want to read at all! I've not chgd my behavior w/mouse - I will check, but I've kept r hand on mouse for years reading msgs on t-bird w/o this happening.
-Could this be build-only issue? I don't have stable installed.
-Is there a way to reset t-bird as you can w/FF?
-is there another fix?

First backup your profile -- http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup
Close Thunderbird and navigate to your Profile Folder ( http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Folder ). Find the files with the extension msf, such as Inbox.msf. Note that there will be sets of two files with the name but only one of these will have the MSF extension. Delete the files with the MSF extension. Restart Thunderbird, compact all folders, and see if things are back to normal. Note that the MSF files do NOT contain your messages. They are, for lack of a better term, an index file and will be recreated by Thunderbird as required.
