migration from mbox to maildir

Post by Ezh »

Tb 60 beta 1 has announced a feature:
Thunderbird now allows the conversion of folders from mbox to maildir format and vice versa. This is an experimental feature.

Could not find anywhere how to do this. Can anyone help?

Go in Account Manager to "Server Settings". Under "Message Storage" choose with "Message Store Type" the type you want. Now a dialog opens to convert it.

Because it's a experimental feature, make before a backup of your profile.

Tnx! I found it. Looked for it anywhere, but not in server settings.

For some reasons it is grayed out for me.

Also greyed out for me using 60.0b1 with a new profile on Linux, but it did work in my current Daily.

Edit: Greyed out in Windows Thunderbird 60.0b1. "mail.store_conversion_enabled;false"

Not sure why the release notes say the conversion is allowed in this beta. :?: :?

Edit #2: Found the bug that implements this feature, but I think the release note is premature, as it is not enabled by default. It is allowed if the user is knowledgeable enough to search out the pref using the Config editor and toggle it. Use at your own risk.
