There are timing considerations beyond the fixed calendar - in this case, we have patches we want to uplift to 60.4.0 that first need to go through beta. But we don't want 60.4.0 to be delayed by waiting for 65 beta which would be at least a week to get results. So we uplift more patches in beta 64 and ship it again, this time as 64.0b4 - that way we can build 60.4.0 some time next week

Is 64.0b4 or 65 going to be available in 64bit? I am assuming that is what you are talking about. When will this become the norm for all builds going forward?

If you really want to Test unstable Win64 Beta builds of 63.0 then https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/thunder ... es/63.0b1/

The Win64 builds of Thunderbird 60.0 are Not officially supported which is why they are not listed on https://www.thunderbird.net/thunderbird/all/ along with 32-bit version for Windows. The Win64 was not needed like 64-bit builds were needed for Mac and Linux.

Thunderbird changed it's build process to move it into line with the Firefox process. A side effect is a 64-bit (Win64) builds appearing in the release folders by accident since.

Win64 Releases of Thunderbird may not be officially supported until next year. So use that Win64 Thunderbird 60.0 and Beta builds at your own risk.
Maybe I missed the announcement, but are 64 bit Thunderbird versions now "officially supported" by whoever (can't say Mozilla I guess). Are 64 bit capable machines (most) now automatically updating to the 64 bit version? I know going from 32 to 64 helped with some crashes and memory issues for me.

https://www-stage.thunderbird.net/en-US ... rbird/all/ is a very solid indication that 64bit is officially supported. It has been for a long time.

No, it didn't happen yet. But users who download from https://www.thunderbird.net/ do get the 64bit installer if they are running the browser on an OS running in 64bit mode.

1. I guess I DID miss the announcement!

2. That's kind of almost the same. Unfortunately, I usually have to download both, and label them differently, because there are still a couple lingering 32 bit computers. I believe either way, they download as "Thunderbird Setup 91.1.0.exe" with no way of differentiating them by name.

It would be nice if the updater worked, and nobody would have to check this ever again.
