Moving Contacts between folders

Post by jl123 »

Is it possible to move or copy individual Contacts between Thunderbird Address Books.
Such as moving a Contact from Personal Address Book to a folder called Doctors.

I do not want to re-type all of the info.

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried dragging contact entries from the right hand panel of the source address book and drop them onto the name of the target address book. Holding down the Ctrl key while dragging and dropping will result in copying the contact rather than moving it.

Are you using the new address book UI?

Try using the Config Editor and change

Code: Select all

mail.addr_book.useNewAddressBook
to

Code: Select all

false
Although, in my tests, it appears that the contact I want to move requires an email address.

I could not drag and drop a contact that did not have one with the new or old address book UI.

I was able to move one when I edited the contact and made up an email address.

I am using the old UI in this TB version.
You said, "Although, in my tests, it appears that the contact I want to move requires an email address."
I tried this with a Contact with an email address and it worked.
WOW. Does not make any sense. My opinion.
I wonder if this is a bug or just something new in the newer version of TB.

Well I can put in a fake email and then delete it after I move them. Extra work. Oh well.

Thanks

If it is not a bug, you can sign in to Bugzilla and make it one.
