tbird duplicate folders

Post by BruceAWittmeier »

Thunderbird mail --
I have every folder duplicated at the top left column -- some empty some not

when were the extra folders initiated?
- Recent Folders
- Favorite Folders
- Unread Folders
- Unified Folders <<< is this new?

Far too many duplicate folders.
Tried to delete one and got this error message:
The current operation on '__family' did not succeed. The mail server for account (me) responded: [NONEXISTENT] Unknown Mailbox: __family (now in authenticated state) (Failure).

Can I merge them without losing emails?

This just happened today. I was using Ver 98.0b3 and reloaded 98.0b2
I often take a long windy road to my destination. Upon arrival, I wonder how I missed the shortcut.

Not sure when Unified Folders was added, but I have it in my 91.6.2.

I use View > Folders > All, but you can have multiple views by putting a check mark in the checkbox for that view.

Like All and Recent, All and Unified, Recent and Unified, and so on.

So, if not available in version 78, then somewhere between the 79 and 91 betas.

Created a zip file of my email as it was discovered broken

Tried creating a new profile but got into a loop at the configuration screen

Only way I could get past the configuration screen was to allow Google access to some data and use the automatic sign in.

For now all is back to normal -- still do not know what happened. Glad I use IMAP.

I ended up with a complete folder listing above my inbox with my email name appended to each folder. Never seen that before.

Thanks for the responses.

Edit:
I see what I likely did by accident.
Somehow I must have selected all the folders (4) as that is what shows up
In Thunderbird Email > View > Folders -- All is checked by default although grayed out
