I'm on Thunderbird v100.0b2 (Windows 11)
I've recently discovered that my panacea.dat file was missing, gone, kaput. I found this out because Mail Backup X wasn't working at all (for the past year!) because this file was missing. Why it's gone I haven't the foggiest idea.
The issue is I can't get this file recreated by Thunderbird. I found an old copy in a backup profile folder and so I copied that in and now the backup program works. Simply quitting and relaunching TB isn't doing it.
So, the question is, how do I have Thunderbird recreate this? Obviously, it hasn't been doing it on its own. I'm guessing an additional file or files must also need to be missing for TB to rebuild them all.
Thoughts?

It is a mail folder cache that you used to be able to safely delete and Thunderbird would re-create it.
I found https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=418551 which said that file (Mork based) was replaced with panacea.json (JSON based) in version 93.

thanks, this is helpful! I've forwarded that info to the Mail Backup X team as they appear to be depending on the "panacea.dat" file existing.tanstaafl wrote:It is a mail folder cache that you used to be able to safely delete and Thunderbird would re-create it.

Edit: FYI, reading the change notes and code it appears to now be "folderCache.json"
