What about Tobin's Borealis Browser? Apparently, he claims that Borealis is based on the browser component of SeaMonkey, and based on UXP. Did he actually seek permission for that?

Am I missing something here? On numerous software sites v2.49 is shown to be the latest that came out in July '18. What/where is this v2.53 or is that some beta version?
Browsers that don't have a conventional horizontal Menu bar (where it's been for 25 years) are poorly designed. Period. Stop 'fixing' something that isn't broke!

Still a free open source world and he doesn't use the official branding
The macOS builds on Bills site are x64 only. They are cross compiled on Linux like the latest Firefox builds. They are unoffical but use my patch queues so any error here will probably end up in any official build later too. A 2.53 beta might appear when the official infra ewong is currently working on is ready. It is unlikely that a 2.53 release will be done because this would need l10n changes too. Mostly my pet project on the way to 2.57.
I was having problems with 2.49.4 after installing macOS Mojave and
downloaded the unofficial 2.53. That fixed my problems, although
StayOpenMenu legacy add-on no longer works. All the other legacy
add-ons work ok.
Am I correct in thinking 2.57 will not support legacy add-ons? That
would leave me with the "unofficial" 2.53 - for as long as I can convice
myself it's safe enough.

After 8/5/15, ftp protocol support for ftp.mozilla.org will be completely disabled and downloads can only be accessed through http/https.
Users will no longer be able to just enter “ftp.mozilla.org” into their browser, because this action defaults to the ftp protocol. Going forward, users should start using archive.mozilla.org. The old name will still work but needs to be entered in your browser as https://ftp.mozilla.org/

Hi Lew,
You might find the following useful, it's an approach where you long-term pro-actively 'replace' the browser security instead of relying on the browser's own security and thus knowing that it will go EOL in terms of weeks or months - http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... #p14805707
"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil, is for good men to do nothing." - Edmund Burke (attrib.)

@FrankLion - Thanks, but I was aware of that post and it was the plan.
Unfortunately, I had to replace my old Mac, and the latest came with
the latest and greatest OS, which didn't work with SeaMonkey book-
marks menus, so I took a shot with 2.53, which fixed the problem.
Now I plan to follow the plan with 2.53 - and good luck with that.
Edit 12/14: Unofficial 2.49.5 fixed the problem I was having with
bookmarks menus so I reverted to it. No apparent differences I can
see for normal browsing between the two.
