SeaMonkey Portable ?

Post by wpr »

Is anyone using a portable version that is not from PortableApps.com? If so, any suggestions which to use and any adjustments?

Thanks for any thoughts.

I'm curious why you are looking for something other than the Portable Apps version.

Two reasons:

1. The PortableApps version is still 2.49.5 . I've seen an updated portable version in other places.
2. I do not like how PortableApps structures their contents, using more folders (app, data, other, etc.) than almost all other portable software.

Ah. OK. I was afraid you had seen issues of infection or the link in the downloads.

Ad.1. You can install 2.49.5 and then manually update to 2.53.3.

Ad.1. Additional folders are there to keep it real portable. Otherwise user's profile must be in "default" place:

Code: Select all

%APPDATA%\Mozilla\SeaMonkey\
... which makes it "not installed" instead "portable".

4td8s,

Faster than a speeding bullet! (After a year or so of claiming some kind of error that prevented them from updating just the SeaMonkeyPortable. (Go Figure!)
