Consensus on 2.53.13

Post by Peter Creasey »

I've seen some problems mentioned with SeaMonkey 2.53.13.

What is the consensus? Should I upgrade my Windows 10 SeaMonkey 32-bit from 2.53.12 to 2.53.13?

Thanks for any advice.

You have 64-bit Windows OS. Uninstall 32-bit SeaMonkey and install 64-bit SeaMonkey.

Thanks for the response.

My Windows 64-bit OS and 32-bit SeaMonkey have worked fine. I'm loath to change things if they aren't a problem.

How risky is it to uninstall 32-bit SeaMonkey and install 64-bit SeaMonkey?

You might need to redo setting it as default via the Windows Defauot apps settings. That is it about.

Thanks again.

Is there a problem with sticking with SM 32-bit 2.53.13?

Does it work for you?
And don't be so averse to updating a stable product - as SeaMonkey is.

Back up & go for it.

(Firefox is a different animal, though for most even they can probably update without too much heartache .)
Fire 750, bring back 250.

Is a "backup" just preserving a copy of the profile folder? If not, how is it done?

Any special instructions on the uninstall process?

Thanks.

might as well wait for 2.53.14 IMO

why dont you run the Portable version to test it out before you upgrade over the top of your .12 version to findout the problems yourself Peter

I've been using .13 for 2 weeks now and no issues.

If you like 32-bit, stay with it, but I'd suggest considering going to 64-bit if you have more than 4GB RAM in your system.

I have plenty of RAM. As a former IBM programmer/system analyst (long ago), I just have a reluctance to change something that is working well...especially when I can ill afford unexpected difficulties.

The dialogue in this thread has been constructive, at least for me.

Many thanks to everyone.

If something is working well then there is no need to change that state. That's why I migrated from W10 to W7 (previously XP to W10).
