"seems very close, if not identical to the unsigned version"... indeed, sha512, md5, and sha1 checksums for the released 2.35 are identical to the ones for the Win32 installer executable from "build3".
This is an amazing accomplishment - who knows what could be next? Maybe I will finally be able to see a build (32- or 64- bit) complete for me locally, so I could potentially help?
Congrats, SM team - we wouldn't have this without you (well, duh).

yup the long wait for SM 2.35 is finally over.
and because it was released this early September, there won't be 2.36 & 2.37 releases and will skip to doing a 2.38 beta as mentioned in this recent SM Status Meeting notes.

If I remember correctly, SeaMonkey now contains a Firefox ESR core, will have the security patches up to FF40.0.3 anyway? The next ESR version of Firefox will be 45, so presumably there will be a bigger change in SeaMonkey with 2.42?

Is SeaMonkey going to stick with the Firefox ESR releases now?
Gecko 36.0, SeaMonkey 2.33
Gecko 38.0, SeaMonkey 2.35, Firefox ESR 38.0
Gecko 45.0, SeaMonkey 2.42, Firefox ESR 45.0
Much thanks to the SeaMonkey team.

Not as far as I know.
This was more of a one time thing, to at least get things going again, & as we had fallen so far behind, we picked from here & from there to (almost) get current at least on the security update end.
AFAIK, going forward, & assuming the build process goes smoothly, their intent is to once again go in step with FF (though seemingly we might jump from 2.35 to 2.38, to coincide with FF 41).

RDanee,
In addition to the security fixes, the bug fix that allows Lightning to work once again (4.02) and Lightbird (0.5) is amazing, as I sorely missed that facet of the "sweet" suite. <g>

Thunderbird is the one built off of ESR. Although there was talk of building 2.35 off of Tbird. I haven't been paying attention close enough though.

Thread no longer needed and will now be locked. Please start as "Issues with SM 2.35" thread if there isn't already one.
