Prevent Video Autoplay
Is there a way to prevent Videos from automatically playing in 2.33 since Flashblock doesn't work in SM?

Also, in about:config:
media.autoplay.enabled = false
Unfortunately, this will stop only a small fraction of HTML5 videos that actually use the correct standards from autoplaying. Most websites use javascript to invoke HTML5 video autoplay so that preference doesn't work everywhere.

Thanks guys.
Since I don't have Flash installed, the plugins route won't work. Hopefully the config setting will work.

The config setting did not work with YouTube. I got an extension to force YouTube to send videos with Flash.

YouTube, as the market leader really should be leading by example in this regard and there should really be more shame going around about their lack of support for basic standards features and user settings. But nobody really seems to care about that any more.

Finally got a chance to test. Nope, the config setting didn't work on Youtube.
It also looks like Autoplay worked. But will it remember the OFF setting after a reboot? Will test it tomorrow.

Re: Prevent Video Autoplay
The "autoplay" setting you see on YouTube itself controls whether it automatically switches to a new video, not automatically playing when you open a page. YouTube should also be shamed for using standards terminology and changing the meaning. TMK that should save if you have cookies enabled and don't delete them on exit. Those of us who remove cookies have to click that stupid blue button every single time we open YouTube.

Re: Prevent Video Autoplay
So what is it about SeaMonkey that makes FlashBlock and similar not work? Is it that hard to correct for SM?

Re: Prevent Video Autoplay
I have a version of Flashblock that does work with SeaMonkey, but not that well with YouTube. It completely blocks HTML5 with YouTube, even after you clear the placeholder. I got my version from:
http://downloads.mozdev.org/flashblock/
The version is 1.5.19a1 and I used the converter on it to get it to install.
