In any case RC3 is the final and can be installed now.

Which is great news if every SM user out there visits these forums, but I'm reckoning that a good few don't.

RC: Release Candidate. If real Final, have to call it Final and not RC.
I stay with 2.49.4 _until 2.49.5 official "Final"
At work, i can not risk loosing/corrupt something.

@Bac_a_sable, whether it be with Mozilla and their Firefox or the Thunderbird and SeaMonkey communities, The last RC build becomes the Release build of a version after QA testing and such as would it make sense to build a new build yet again to then have to go about the QA and testing before putting them in Release folder.

Exactly. It shouldn't take so long to copy it but it does. Ewong needs to do it and he is very occupied at the moment. I am really sorry about the delay but I/we can't do a thing about it. But I am confident that ewong will manage it once he finds the time. 2.49.5 should be a stable release and better than 2.49.4. There were/are a lot of people using Bills builds and I have not seen an increase im crashes. Same with the ones already using the RC 3,

They were generated with the release but overlooked because everything was done manually. Should appear soon.

Like with Firefox the Win64 version only supports 64-bit Windows 7, 8 (8.1) and 10.

You need to use the 32-bit Windows version of SeaMonkey 2.49.5

Please note that the new Windows x64 version will only support Windows 7 x64 and up.

As James pointed out the x86 version does. Windows Server 2008 is Vista. Windows Server 2008 R2 is Windows 7. The x64 works fine with R2. Just tested.

Ah yes the SP2 is NT 6.0 or Vista. For Firefox even if you had 64-bit Windows XP or Vista you still could only run 32-bit Firefox up till the Firefox 52.0 ESR as Win64 Firefox did not run. Also XP and Vista cannot run gecko 52.0 and later Releases.

Antikapitalista, you were very likely using a 32-bit version of SeaMonkey up till you decided to try the 64-bit (Win64) version which is recent as of SeaMonkey 2.49.5

Is up. Just not on the website yet. We all really busy with fixing up the source and other admin tasks. The hinges in the "help welcome" signs even only for website bugs are rusting.

I suspect the mozilla newsgroups will be next on the chopping block. Still able to somewhat post uncensored there and that is soemthing mozilla dislikes these days. They can dish out but dislike critique. Personally I still hope someone takes over mozillazine. Currently admistering another forum and would do it myself but there are only so many hours in the day....

Reddit and the whole ilk is out. Waste of time to deal with all the off topic posts. The mozilla support groups and fora are in my top ten of the most unusable support websites. They are just a user unfriedly joke and the software they are using is king of the hill when it comes to form over function. Looking at the traffic users seem to agree Their irc successor will be the same. I didn't even try to register for one of the possible choices.
