New tabs

Post by Ianpb »

Seamonkey is not particularly user friendly when it comes to opening new tabs, and it's something that puts me off this browser. It would make a lot of sense to at least include a 'New tab' button somewhere at the top.

Preferences->Vrowser->Tabbed Browsing.

Uncheck 'Hide the tab bar when only one tab is open' and you get a nice button on the left side of the tab bar. And after installing SeaTab X2 add-on everything is perfect at least for me.

Sorry about that. I did suspect so, but performed a manual search without success and thought maybe my memory was playing tricks. I was tired at the time, but I've only just spotted the 'View your posts' link.

Personally, I think it would make more sense if the 'Hide the tab bar when only one tab is open' feature was unchecked by default.

You sure you should be using any browser? You've already been advised what to do - http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... #p14506919

People will always argue about what's the "right default" given that opinions and habits differ. That's why there are preferences in the user interface to change those. Tabbed browsing was added at some point in history, and for those using it (i.e., having multiple tabs open where it matters) the tab bar appears, for those who don't it doesn't waste vertical space.

The fastest way for me to open a new tab (even without having to move the mouse anywhere) is the Ctrl+T keyboard shortcut.
