you should contact someone at Portableapps.com and tell them to make a portable version of a newer SM version

or sign up and post in their fourms about it, ndebord

oh well ndebord.

since SM 2.53.2 recently came out, folks at Portableapps.com are now concentrating on producing a portable 2.53.2 version instead of 2.53.1 (hopefully)
they are really behind schedule for portable SM - not much we can do about it

4td8s,

I know, not a problem for me, as I use the old-fashioned method of starting an install, then just copying over the Seamonkey folder from my Windows temp folder... a perfect update on top of my old 2.49.xxx portable.

Would prefer to use portableapps if possible.

Do the same there.
Should work - AFAIK.

Within the Portable Apps install directory, App/SeaMonkey/, delete everything that is there, the copy everything from your installed version's install directory into that (now) empty directory.

After that, run using SeaMonkeyPortable.exe.
Fire 750, bring back 250.

therube,

Exactly. That is the way to do it for me too.

but are they gonna actually provide an updated portable SM on portableapps? so far the answer is no
shall we give them a nudge or a push (or maybe a kick in the butt) for them to release a portable SM 2.53.x asap?
maybe it's time to force the issue and remind or nag them from time to time until they actually provide a new version

edit - seems right now, it's not a high priority for them to make a portable SM 2.53.x version

Might sound like a good idea to a 5 year old child, to everyone else... not so much.

Works well, but there no need to even run the installer. You can open the installer in 7zip (or a similar archiver) and copy the files from the 'core' directory.

Why not just use the zip file you can get from here (i guess these zip file are portable version; just uncompress and use it):
https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/seamonk ... 3.3/win64/
just select the language, go down into directory and take the zip file.

Example for French:
https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/seamonk ... .win64.zip

For en-us
https://archive.mozilla.org/pub/seamonk ... .win64.zip

and so on

i agree thah link is not present at
https://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/#2.53.3
and may be added

Depends on one's definition of "portable".
If by portable, you mean 'unzip & go', then yes, they're portable.
If by portable, you mean something that does not leave traces on your system (outside of the applications purview), then no, that would not be "portable".
And if you mean something that you can run off of a flash drive...
Fire 750, bring back 250.
