.htm versus .html; dumb complaint

Post by danll »

I must say, that when I try to save a SeaMonkey file as .htm, it complains, and says, "You have used the extension “.htm” at the end of the name. The standard extension is “.html”." That's just stupid. Both are correct. How can I turn off this dumb complaint?
This happens even if I've imported the file as .htm, and just want to edit it, and save it back with the same name.

What version of SeaMonkey are you using? I just tried to do this myself and it just saved the web page as .htm and didn't complain about it at all. Are you sure it's SeaMonkey that's doing the complaining and not the OS?

Additional:

Didn't you already cover this in a previous post in February?

Thanks. I wondered about whether it was the OS complaining, but here is the complaint
https://postimg.cc/mz9Kjtx3
and that sure looks like a SeaMonkey icon to me.

Yes, somehow last month I gathered that it might be the OS, but the fact that the complaint has a SeaMonkey icon on it makes me think that SeaMonkey has something to do with it. Unless my OS is highjacking the SeaMonkey icon. Maybe that's what's going on? But on my other Mac 10.11 applications, I don't get that complaint. Now, unlikely that Microsoft would do that complaint, because .htm originated with Microsoft. But Safari gives me no trouble with that as well, so if Apple didn't like it, I'd get it with Safari.

I didn't understand it in February. I still don't. Poster, do you think questions answer themselves?
