File associations bug? How do I fix/change/delete?

Post by ooglek »

So I was downloading a .efx (efax document) from my webmail. I clicked on advanced, and made "application/octet-stream" with the .efx extension open with efaxviewer.exe.

Then I went to download bearshare, and the "save" window came up with this filename:

bearshare.exe.efx

Uh, that's not right. Is this a bug? Or did I screw things up?

I think that's a bug. AFAIK, Mozilla has problems with files whose file type is not properly described by web sites.

This might be related to bug 177026.

Thanks ! I see it's fixed - good, since it was one of the more annyoing bugs. Do you think there's a chance it will make it to 1.0.2, not just the 1.3 branch ?

I don't know what the criteria are for choosing what goes into the 1.0 branch. But since it fixes an obvious bug (and isn't an enhancement of any kind) I wouldn't be suprised if it did - after some testing to make sure it was okay. (Just don't quote me on that.)
