import from mozilla win to lin

Post by MtnTopRebel »

I am moving a friend off of Windars to Linux, we got him off of outlook express by importing his files to the windars version of Mozilla (worked great!), now for the next step to take him to Mozilla Linux (SUSE8) but I cannot figure out how to get the Linux version to import the MS version have any Ideas, I must be missing something.... I thought it would be simple??? Thanks for the help

I just did the reverse (from linux to win).
It worked with little fuss.

The way I did it was:

1. delete the cache files
2. zip the profile on the linux machine
3. transfer the zip to the win machine
4. launch mozilla once on the win machine
5. unzip the zip into the profile dir
6. launch mozilla with -profilemanager and (re)create the profile with the same name
7. edit prefs.js (there was a problem with the mail folders)
8. Done.

So I guess the other way round should work too.
