Is there an add-on which simply prompts me asking what outgoing email address I want to use.
I know I can choose it from the drop-down but I forget pretty much every time I ever send an email. Can it just prompt to ask which one I want to use so I can pick one and send (and/or cancel sending).
Hell- actually even simpler- if it's just a dialog box that names the email I'm sending as, just reminding me who I am and lets me cancel and change it.
Even more simple: Can it just say "Hey who are you?" Just to make me think and cancel.

Maybe something like this? https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/th ... nt/?src=ss
Or you might see if this one will work in the version you are using -- https://addons.thunderbird.net/en-US/th ... src=search

Uh oh apparently my Thunderbird is old. 68.10.0 (64-bit) Ubuntu.
I thought it updated automatically?

That could depend on where your version came from, whether from the Linux depository or directly from Mozilla.

Ubuntu 18.04? Forget about getting an update.squatcobbler wrote:Uh oh apparently my Thunderbird is old. 68.10.0 (64-bit) Ubuntu.

See Backport Thunderbird 78 to 20.04 LTS and 18.04 LTS
Some options.
- Upgrade to Ubuntu 20.04
- Install from Thunderbird
- Change to a more supportive Linux
Linux Desktop - AMD Athlon(tm) II X3 455 3.3GHz | 8.0GB RAM | GeForce GT 630
Windows Notebook - AMD A8 7410 2.2GHz | 6.0GB RAM | AMD Radeon R5

Yea there's actually a fourth option that I used, with some help:WaltS48 wrote:Ubuntu 18.04? Forget about getting an update.squatcobbler wrote:Uh oh apparently my Thunderbird is old. 68.10.0 (64-bit) Ubuntu.

If I can't trust Ubuntu to keep 18.04 update, I can't trust them to keep other releases updated, and that is why I now use Fedora 33 Workstation.

I asked in another post here about updating thunderbird and with help I got it working and explained how to do it:
http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic ... &t=3073364
I'm using the recommended above Identity Chooser (thanks) and it's great- also I've rarely ever installed thunderbird plugins and I forgot you can just click and download older versions too, so maybe update wasn't necessary but still cool to be able to update now.
And also I use the recommended BorderColors D which is pretty cool too. (Thanks @morat!!)
Neither of them quite do what I wanted but close enough. I might dip my toe into this and write something simple- like I said: prompts you with a dialogue every time you click send... I bet I can just read some other plugin code and figure out how to do it. But this is all close enough, thanks guys!
