No new mail notifications for spam messages

I read somewhere that TB notifies of new e-mails before it checks whether that particular message is spam. Please, developers, change this order so that users see/hear notifications for regular messages only.

Although I'm sure many people on the forums would agree with you about that, there are usually no developers here to see your post.

It is a very well known issue and already expressed in one or more bugs. If you need help searching for it, post a followup and hopefully someone will assist you.

Yes, I found several bug reports describing this, hence didn't submit anything myself. Let's hope developers will do something about it in TB 3.0...

if I remember correctly there are some deep backend issues mentioned in the bugs that must first be dealt with before New Mail notification can properly be fixed. It won't happen in v3.0. But there is some good attention on it.

Thanks for the important detail. I haven't read the bug reports so I missed this. Anyway, let's hope those Mozilla guys will do something about it as soon as possible. nvx
