Do not display 'new mail' notification on junk

Post by CDS »

I'm SURE I saw this suggestion here before, but a search turned up negative for me... probably searching for the wrong keywords...

Anyway, I'd like to see a feature where the 'new mail' notification does NOT display when junkmail is received. I don't care about junkmail! Having the notification only display for REAL mail would make it far more useful in my opinion. In fact, having it notify on the junkmail makes the notification useless -- when you get a couple dozen spams every day, it's CONSTANTLY going off - therefore it gets ignored.

On a related note, having the notification display a subject and sender list for the new mail would also be nice.

There is a bug filed for the junk notification issue, it's #<a href="http://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=189289">189289</a>.

Thanks! I knew other people had to have had the same idea...
Voted for the bug (probably not necessary, since it seems to be getting attention right now anyway)

Now, I'm not sure if a bugreport for MailNews gets it into Thunderbird...
Is TB being built on the latest MailNews code?

in the thunderbird bug forum, there is s ticky topic posted 7th May 2003 which says don't use bugzilla UNLESS you can duplicate the bug in mozilla's mailnews client (which means that that is where the bug came from)
