Not open a new instance of thunderbird on folderclick

I'm getting really tired of Thunderbird/Mail opening a new instance of itself after one double-clicks the name of a folder...

Can we change this, I see no need for it what so ever? Or can it be disabeled?

I'd like to see a double-click checking for new messages instead... Comments?
