Spellchecker

Post by Tom Sommer »

I really don't like the current spellchecker, it's not that inteligent...

I would really like to see it work like word, underlineing words with read while you type.... and then you can right-click and select another word

It would also be nice if it ignored URLs and signatures?

It could be done but it definitely would add to the build size and a performance decrease perhaps. If not, you can always open a word processing program with these capabilities, cut and paste, correct the message, and then paste back into Thunderbird.

I doubt it would affect the performance... I've seen many mails clients which does this, wihout any lag etc.

I'd even be glad to have a spell checker as one in NS 4.x. The one in TB is just too dumb.

To me at least, this should be the way that any sort of spellchecker works. What I wonder is if this will be implemented in the future, or if the Mozilla team have already decided that realtime indicators aren't worth the overhead.
