A couple of "little" things ...

I realize that the new mail notification flag appears above the clock for only a second or two, but the new mail icon in the system tray doesn't appear until the flag disappears ... why shouldn't they appear simultaneously?

Re the systray icon: Tbird requires a double-click on the icon just to open the email window, and another double-click on the new message to open it. If I remember correctly, the same icon in NS Communicator 4.x required only a single click to open both the email window and the new message. Tbird seems to have taken a giant step backwards.

I realize that Tbird is still pre-release and, as I said, these are little things, but it's the little things that make a program easy to use.
