Right click on the From address and choose "create filter from" from the context menu. That will do most of the work for you, I think you just have to tell it what to do with the message (i.e. delete it or move to trash)

howdy Don Pedro,
another method is to make a filter that tests for membership in an "ignore these people" address book. then you can add their addresses to that address book without ending up with a bunch of filters. another benefit is that it narrows down the places you need to search if you change your mind about wanting to see that persons posts ... [*grin*]
match ...
[from] [is in my address book] [Ignore_These_People]
action ...
[move msg to] [trash on (account name)]
you need to make the abook before you make the filter. that one bit me more than once. [*grin*]
take care,
lee

Re: Not spam but unwanted mails
One useful filter that reduces the amount of crud you have to plough through is to:
- set up a folder called Mass Mail (or something similar), and then
- filter everything where the body contains "unsubscribe" into that folder.
- Once a day, go through what is in that folder and see if any of the messages in it are worth reading.
Generally it's just all the newsletters and updates from people I've done business with over the years. I don't want to flag EVERYTHING from them as spam, because I may still be doing business with them, but nor do I want to have to dig through 40 or 50 messages a day looking for the stuff I actually need to read.

Thanks for your report but you've replied to a thread that's been dead for a year. It's doubtful that anyone was monitoring this for additional information.
