Negative Filter Feature

Post by MacLingo »

If I am using a filter for positive selection having clicked on "Any of the following", if I use a single negative filter ("isn't", "doesn't contain") then everything regardless of the positive filters is selected.

I find that sometimes I want to make a bunch of positive selections with a single negative one. For example I might want to select a group of friends but want to exclude anyone whose email contains something.

So I am asking if there is any consensus for adding a separate line on a "Match any" filter screen for 1 ""Universal" specification.

Dose this make sense?

The filters don't support complicated boolean operations. I think you would have better luck using "match all of the following" and creating some dedicated address books for each group of friends that have a copy of their contacts. That way you can use "From" "is in my address book" group1 of friends + "Body" "doesn't contain" "some horrible statement".
