File manager internal or external? - Solved

Post by JayArr »

Hi all

When I "add attachment" I get a pop up window that lets me browse my folders. It lists files and folders alphabetically.

I would prefer the folders listed alphabetically at the top followed by the files listed alphabetically.

Does Thunderbird use a native file browser to select attachments or does it call one from the OS?

The File manager that I use from my OS is set to "sort folders before files" and it is working properly.

Is there a way to set this in Thunderbird? 68.7.0 (64-bit)

Solved: Right click on any file or folder in the popup box for attachments and you get a balloon with preference settings, choose "Sort Folder before Files".

The file picker is external on Windows. I assume it's external on Linux.

Yes, I'm using MATE and it appears Thunderbird is calling Caja but it wasn't using the preferences set on the desktop, it must store a separate set of preferences for use within Thunderbird.
