Combo box for folder selection

When the folder pane on the left side is hidden there is no way to select a folder anymore. Therefore it would be nice if in this case a folder selection combo box is shown in the taskbar.

Netscape 4.5 and Mozilla 1.0 had this feature but Thunderbird not anymore. IMO without this nice little feature this bird looks a little lame.

Anyway is it possible to add such a small item through the plugin structure? If yes how is it done?

This was the one that did the drop down selection of file folders to file a mail message into. It was nice to not have to navigate through the menus to do this oft used feature.
