RSS feed validation switch off

Post by dsnk89 »

Is it possible to disable validation of RSS-feed for example: https://rss.unian.net/site/news_ukr.rss or https://www.ukrinform.ua/rss/block-lastnevs
(reputable news agencies of Ukraine)
Because of this validation, it is impossible to add many resources that can be easily added to other RSS readers (Opera Mail, The Bat! 7.2, FeedReader 3.14, Fedemon 3.5, Opera Mail ...).
There is of course a workaround through the firewall (where to block a specific request to validator.w3.org, but I would like without it)

What's the point? If a feed doesn't validate, it won't work and you need to tell the publisher to fix it. If you really want to add a feed without validation, it can be done in offline mode. See the guide in the Learn More link.

the reason is Thunderbird will die over time. Because (example) of 100 RSS feeds I can add only 55. On the other hand, in other RSS readers (feed reader, Opera mail etc) there is no problem adding any 100 feeds from these 100 feeds. These programs will live in contrast to a good tunderbird with poor and unnecessary validation... This really bad idea to do validation where it is not necessary... Journalists are not programmers

Thanks for trying to help. But it's not about the Thunderbird error report number, but the fact that Thunderbird uses a buggy feed validation service before adding a feed (https://validator.w3.org/). My recommendation is to remove this feed validation procedure from Thunderbird because even working feeds do not all pass this "validation" (buggy obsolete https://validator.w3.org validation). This is a major barrier for journalists to use Thunderbird as a RSS reader.
Other RSS readers add all kinds of feeds without checking https: //validator.w3.org (eg Opera mail, FeedReader, Fedemon, RSS Owl).

And if you need "errors" that are considered "errors" https: //validator.w3.org then here:
https://validator.w3.org/feed/check.cgi ... ws_ukr.rss

(original feed is https://rss.unian.net/site/news_ukr.rss)

No one other reader has this crazy "check"!
This is one of the few feeds that Thunderbird cannot read due to "validation". But the other listed readers CAN.

The best solution would be not only a new version of Thunderbird, but a patch (including for previous versions) that removes all references to https: //validator.w3.org and adds feeds without problems.

Maybe the better solution would be having the W3C Validation service fix their validator?

Maybe the issue is filed here https://github.com/w3c/feedvalidator, or you could file one.

I'd rather not be able to allow invalid feeds in my Thunderbird.
