MozSuite/Thunderbird pick different mail as junk

Post by mythdraug »

I know this one will be hard to track down, and could be just a local
issue. However - I used thunderbird for the first time yesterday. Not wanting to pollute my clean thunderbird profile, I did the following
to get my message archive and training.dat moved:

1) Launch t'bird with -profilemanager to create a new profile.
2) Add a single account which closely mathed my moz account.
3) Exit t'bird & mozilla.
4) Copy the content of the mail account from moz to t'bird.
5) Launch and exit t'bird.

At this point, I felt that my t'bird account was ready to use. I fired up
t'bird one last time and retreived messages. My filters all worked
correctly, Junk Mail stuff marked and moved some junk. While
scanning through my inbox, I was suprised that 6 pieces of junk had
not been tagged.

I then started moz-mail. Retreived the same set of messages and only
had a single piece of junk that had to be dealt with.

Am I missing something? Or is this a valid concern?

Did you copy the training.dat file over from your Moz profile directory? That's where the junk stuff is stored. "Mail" is a lower level directory.

I feel stupid now. I thought training.dat was account specific. Didn't even notice that it was in the profileroot.

Can I hide now?

I wouldn't worry about it. When I stop making mistakes, I'll criticize others. IOW, you have no fears. :D
