TB font size very small on sent emails

I am running Thunderbird 38.6.0 and having difficulty with fonts. Any message that I send appears in very small font. I have tried setting the HTML font size to Xtra Large with some improvement, but that should not be necessary. I have been using Thunderbird for years , now on a Ubuntu 14.04.3 PC without this issue so I suspect it is due to an update of TB

I tried returning the fonts to default settings as outlined in your link annd the sent & received emails are now in even smaller font

Is there a way of setting all settings back to default without reinstalling TB?

The thing is I didn't make any changes to font settings before this happened

Where are you viewing the messages? In the Sent folder in Thunderbird, a copy sent to yourself, or on the recipient's computer?
Have you set a minimum font size under Tools -> Options -> Display -> Formatting -> Fonts->Advanced button? Set minimum font size to 12 or larger to change the displayed size.

Viewing messages in Sent folder and in in box. Messages sent to myself. I have font size set to 40 and it is still small( Display -> Formatting -> Fonts->Advanced button)

A. The other poster reported that only some messages were displaying very small fonts.

B. If this was actually a problem in the latest version of the program itself we would expect to see significant numbers of reports of the problem. We are not.

You could try creating a new profile for Thunderbird and recreating at least one account in that new environment. Sending and receiving a few messages in that new profile might give an indication of whether the issue is in the program or the profile. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_Manager
