When I am working offline with mu thunderbird folders, this happens. I download an inbox file from my isp (space2u.com) and put it in the mailfolder of Thunderbird. After the computer has indexed the mail, I am left with a bunch of corrupt mails with no or corrupt subject and the date 1970-01-01. The contents seem to be fragments of real mails. I could upload a screen dump but don't know how to do it.
What might be happening and can it be avoided. See enclosed screen dump.

Please clarify what you mean by "download an inbox file from your isp". Is that account set up in Thunderbird as POP or IMAP or are you indicating something else?
