System crash - how to safe mails/bookmarks

Post by SchneiH2 »

I had a total XP system crash. Obviously, not repairable. However, luckily I can still access the PC with a Linux distribution (Knoppix).
As I use Mozilla as mail client I would like to know if there is any possibility to copy/safe the mails in the input folder?
Is there also a possibility to copy/safe the bookmarks from Firefox although I did not export them?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Best regards

If you can access the profile folders you can then recover your data. Thunderbird & Firefox will each have their own profile folder that stores all user data such as bookmarks, passwords, e-mails etc. For details of the location of the profile folders and their contents see http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder

To recover all of your profile data follow the procedure in this article - http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_backup
