Galeon RPM won't recognize Mozilla

Post by vande198 »

I'm trying to install Galeon 1.2.7, so I updated to Mozilla 1.2.1, but when I use the rpm from sourceforge, it claims that I don't have Mozilla 1.2.1. How do I get it to recognize Mozilla 1.2.1?

The binaries have been updated. I got the following in the digest of the Galeon mailing list...

The latest official galeon rpms
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... _id=124865
work with and require mozilla 1.2.1.

I think I failed to announce this in a proper manner
Sorry about that.

Galeon

I built Galeon 1.2.7 from source a few day ago and it required Mozilla 1.2 also checked 1.2.6 and it required Mozilla 1.1 to build. The files at Galeon download don't appear to have been updated since then. I prefer Phoenix now since it isn't tied to nor does it requre Mozilla installed. The best feature in Galeon is it will interface with a download manager such as Dx4!

Make Galeon not need Mozilla?

Post by vande198 »

Could it be possible for the developers of Galeon to integrete the elements they use in common with Mozilla into Galeon such that Galeon might be able to exist without Mozilla (like Phoenix)? That way all of us on stupid RPM-based systems wouldn't have to worry about those circular dependency issues all the time. Of course the merit of this might be dubious insofar as Phoenix already accomplishes this task, but it would be nice to have a such an attribute in the gtk-native browser
