Can Chatzilla [FF add-on] be opened together with FF?

Post by lll3 »

I use ChatZilla Firefox add-on as my IRC client, and want it to start together with the browser. Can it be done?

If you want a more persistent chat client you might want to try Instantbird.
Tip of the day: If it has "toolbar" in the name, it's crap.

You could also try Earlybird

It has Instant Messaging with Chat capabilities, that will stay open in a tab.

^ Borrowed from Instantbird. I personally find Thunderbird a pain to setup and couldn't imagine going through all of that just to get chat. Also, Earlybird is an Aurora build and not really something for people who just want a working end product.

You could open with the chrome url chrome://chatzilla/content/chatzilla.xul in a tab though it may not work fully properly.

I found it quite easy to setup for IRC.

I just came across this earlier today.

One thing I was wrong about is the tab does not stay like a mail, calendar, or newsgroup tab does upon restarting the application.

Some will argue that release builds are not really something for people who just want a working end product.
