Thanks Alice.
The update does allow 'uninstall', its gone from my Minefield. Be sure to read the kb, as you have to have .net addon enabled for the update to work.

Thanks for confirming. I did quote part of the download details for that very reason, to point out that the extension must be enabled for the update to work
Alice wrote:It seems that Microsoft has released a fix for the .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 that enables the Uninstall button for the Firefox extension:
Update to .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 for the .NET Framework Assistant 1.0 for Firefox
Date Published: 5/6/2009In this update for .NET Framework 3.5 SP1 and in Windows 7, the .NET Framework Assistant will be installed on a per-user basis. As a result, the Uninstall button will be functional in the Firefox Add-ons list. This update will also make this version of the .NET Framework Assistant for Firefox compatible with future versions of the Firefox browser. To properly update the .NET Framework Assistant, this update must be applied while the extension is enabled in Firefox. To remedy the result of installing this update while the extension was disabled, uninstall the update, re-enable the extension, and reinstall the update. Updates to the .NET Framework Assistant may include updates to the Windows Presentation Foundation Plug-in for Firefox causing it to be enabled upon its initial update.

Firefox, Microsoft and .NET.
This is a pretty good article and something everyone that runs Windows needs to read.

Moral of the story, disable the .NET addon in Firefox.

Yeah but.... Why don't they include the 'fix' for those of us that haven't installed the silly thing yet? MS being MS I guess!

As just to let James the Moderator know, who locked a previous thread, I did NOT start an identical duplicate thread immediately after the first- I have no idea how it showed up 2x.

Read again as I did NOT lock it, as just because I posted last does not mean I locked it. You must have posted the second one to have the correct image instead of the Google calender image instead of editing the first thread.

Locking since we already have an extensive topic on this issue.

I'm the mod who locked it and I did so because we already have that long topic about that issue in Moz Tech. There was no need for another one, as I explained to you in the locked topic, which James just quoted. (I seem to be rather invisible lately. People just skip right over my posts... Sigh)

Fascinating. I was able to uninstall the .Net framework SP in the Add/Remove function of WinXP.
However, previously I was unable to install the .Net framework itself: another app depended on it. So, after reading this thread I had a hunch. I uninstalled Silverlight. After that, uninstalling the .Net framework pieces I had - 2 and 3 - proceeded without a hitch.
I can live without Silverlight if it means I can live without .Net.

Feedback...
I un-installed anything called ".net/framework" etc, (heaps of stuff),
but found that my ATI/Catalyst Control Centre would not run.
Had to re-install .net v1.1 & v2 + SP1.
Haven't checked for any others at pres.

Lenovo System Update requires .NET Framework. (or certainly did before it's last upgrade)
